Priority Calls
The department's Police Dispatchers are tasked with ensuring a timely and accurate response to every call for service that is processed by the 9-1-1 Emergency Telecommunicators. There are thousands of 9-1-1 calls every month that result in a response by the Plano Police Department. These calls for service are separated into multiple priorities and each has an associated dispatch time goal. Dispatch time is measured from the time a 9-1-1 Call Taker enters a call for service into the Computer Aided Dispatching system to when a Police Dispatcher has assigned Plano Police Department units to respond.
Priority 0 & 1 calls for service include situations such as Robberies, Wrong-Way Drivers, and Suicide Attempts.
Priority 2 calls for service include situations such Disturbances, Lost Persons, and Thefts.
Priority 3 & 4 calls for service include situations such as Noise Complaints, Parking Violations, and Motorist Assists.
In all instances and for all calls for service the primary goal of the Plano 9-1-1 department is to get the right response to the right place as quickly as possible.
